Eddie Van Halen’s Handwritten Letter Regarding The Design of The Peavey Wolfgang

Click on a photo to view full size image

This a fantastic piece of EVH history. Eddie Van Halen’s correspondence with Barbara Page in the mid-90s is incredibly rare, and it directly references his design thoughts on the Peavey Wolfgang and compares them to the Ernie Ball Music Man. It documents a key transitional period in his guitar legacy.

Ed moved from Ernie Ball Music Man (where his signature model debuted in 1991) over to Peavey, where the Wolfgang would launch in 1996. Letters like this are significant because they reveal his personal input in shaping the Wolfgang and how it differed from the Ernie Ball Music Man model. Barbara Page was managing his business affairs at the time, and he often outlined ideas, frustrations, and approvals with her. Ed’s mention of Jim DeCola who designed the Peavey Woflgang, is also very important. This letter was handwritten by Ed on a 10×15 envelope.
