Jeff Hanneman’s 2008 ESP Custom Shop Urban Camo

This is Jeff Hanneman’s 2008 ESP Custom Shop Urban Camo, S/N K0808208, made for Jeff in February 2008 in Japan. Jeff gave this guitar as a gift in August 2012 to his private chauffeur, who worked for the limousine company contracted by the band’s booking team. During this period, Jeff specifically requested her whenever he needed transportation.

While she was dropping Jeff off and assisting him inside his home, Jeff learned that she was taking guitar lessons with a private instructor. Jeff then opened an office closet with a sliding door that was filled with various musical gear, including distortion pedals, small amplifiers, cables, and several guitars. Jeff told her that she could choose an instrument. At the time, she was not particularly picky and was simply happy to have a guitar to practice on. Jeff offered her a choice between two guitars that were sitting in front of them: a black BC Rich Bich and this ESP Urban Camo.

She chose the Urban Camo because it appeared to be in pristine, essentially unplayed condition. Jeff was known for taking excellent care of his studio guitars, and the condition of this ESP, along with his Custom Shop BC Rich Bich and ESP EC that are on our website, reflects that.

In these photos, you can see Jeff’s Tascam 388 recording console and his Boss Micro Stack, both of which are also being offered for sale from Kathryn Hanneman on our website. You can also see Jeff’s translucent black Custom Shop BC Rich Bich leaning against its original case. The presence of these personal items from Jeff’s studio and collection provides additional visual documentation supporting the provenance of this guitar.

Included with the guitar are photographs taken inside Jeff’s home showing Jeff and his driver holding the guitars. A detailed letter from the owner documenting the history and provenance of the guitar will also be included. A hard case that was purchased separately at a later date is also included.
