This is Graham Oliver’s legendary 1972 Marshall Super Lead 100 (Serial # 6286D), a true workhorse that powered over 40 years of recording and touring with Saxon. What really elevates this amp into rare territory is its connection to Randy Rhoads—who used this very head for an entire show in Saarbrücken, Germany on November 10, 1981, when Blizzard of Ozz opened for Saxon at the Saarlandhalle.

In 1974 Graham picked up the amp in a gear swap at a gig with Cozy Powell’s Hammer. From that point on, it became his main amp, used in early bands and on Saxon’s debut era in 1975. The amp was used extensively throughout the 1970s in pubs and clubs, and then during the rise of Saxon. The amp was used on tour with bands such as Rainbow, Judas Priest, Rush, AC/DC, Blizzard Of Ozz and Black Sabbath. It was used all Saxon albums up through the 1990s and beyond Including later projects including Oliver Dawson Saxon. It was serviced multiple times by Marshall and Featured in the BBC Marshall documentary Play It Loud.

Then comes the Randy moment. On November 10, 1981, just before doors opened in Saarbrücken, Randy’s own Marshall blew a fuse. With no time to spare, Graham offered Randy to use this Marshall and he used it for the entire set. A one-night necessity turned into a historic crossover between two iconic players. Graham finally retired the amp in 2014 after four decades of heavy use, saying it took him “from a bar band to the world stage.”

This comes with a detailed letter from Graham Oliver and photos of Graham with the Marshall. Between its deep history with Saxon and that unforgettable night with Randy Rhoads, this is more than just an amp—it’s a serious piece of rock history.
