Geoff Nicholls 1963 Burns Double Six

Geoff Nicholls, a good friend who is greatly missed. This is Geoff’s Burns 12 string double six in green burst finish. Serial # 6276. Geoff bought this in 1963 in Birmingham, and Geoff said that this was the very first Burns 12 string in Birmingham!  Geoff used this guitar in his early bands in the 1960s and up through the 1970s on tour and in the studio with Quartz. Geoff also used this guitar on Quartz’s 1977 debut album, Quartz. Geoff had this guitar until the day that he offered it to me in 2014. In the 1970s Geoff had Jaydee (John Diggins) who was at that time with John Birch, modify the guitar. Jaydee installed two John Birch pickups and a Birch 12 string bridge, and a treble boost that Jaydee built into the guitar. Geoff also changed the original neck at some point in time with a shorter scale Burns neck. The guitar plays effortlessly, it is absolutely amazing. The best videos to see Geoff playing this Burns is on YouTube, Quartz – Pleasure Seekers Live and The World Of Oz – recording session in Decca studios, 1968.
