Tony Iommi’s Gibson Custom Prototype SG With Celtic Crosses

You’re looking at a RARE Tony Iommi SG! This is Tony Iommi’s Gibson black 24–fret SG, serial number 116810466, was custom-built for Tony in 2010 by Gibson and is one of two prototype models featuring Celtic crosses on the fingerboard in place of the standard cross inlays used on his signature instruments. This very rare prototype is fitted with a brass nut and shows notable play wear on the rear pickup, as it saw extensive use in the studio, in dressing rooms, and as a backup guitar on tour.

During touring, my guitar tech Mike Clement labeled it with a piece of tape marked “D” on the back of the headstock to indicate its tuning. These tape markings were commonly applied to my guitars whenever they were part of the touring rig. The guitar is accompanied by a signed letter from Tony Iommi along with a photograph of Tony holding the guitar.
