Jimi Hendrix’s – Stephen Stills 1957 Fender Stratocaster

1957 Fender Stratocaster, left handed. This guitar was owned by Jimi Hendrix, and famously swapped with the legendary Steve Stills after the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival! This is the actual guitar that you may have read about. It was the property of Steve Stills for many years and he was photographed with it and described the history in a 1979 issue of Songwriter Magazine, 1979 issue of International Musician And Recording Wolrd, and 1976 Guitar Player. so its provenance is perfect. Apparently, Jimi had bought this guitar as it was a lefty (he bought a few Strats on route to Monterey), but preferred the regular right-handed models, as he could buy them in any town. He suggested that as Stills had a used right-handed model himself, that they swap, then both could experience the delights of playing an upside down Strat! So that’s what happened, and after Hendrix’s death Steve Stills could not bring himself to look at the guitar for many years. Its in the same condition as when Hendrix had it, and sports a very old blond re- finish. This is your only chance to score a 1950′s lefty Strat that was used by Jimi Hendrix, and Steve Stills! It comes with full history and letters including a letter from the author of the 1979 Songwriter Magazine article copies of the magazine articles. Please call for info and price.

Having dealt with Dave Brewis in the U.K regarding the purchase of Noel Gallagher’s 1969 ES 335, I would happily recommend Rock Stars Guitars to any body considering purchasing one of there favourite musicians old axes. Throughout the purchase, they have been nothing but a pleasure to deal with. Be it phone calls, emails or a personal viewing of the guitar. They have done everything in their power to make the transaction as smooth as possible. “And no, I don’t work for them!!”

I was really surprised and very impressed when Greg managed to work out a deal for me to get one of Richie Sambora’s most famous guitars from the 1980s. He really went the extra mile for me. Greg is a terrific person with a lot of respect and care for his customers. He makes sure everything goes smoothly and he stands by his deals. I expect to do more business with Greg in the future. I highly recommend Rock Stars Guitars. True professionals.
